Novel Study Unit Activities for ANY Book - Graphic Organizers & Writing Prompts
Are you constantly searching for reading activities to accompany novels or chapter books in your class? Then this resource is for you! These activities could be used for any grade level and can be applied to any book.
This packet includes 54 pages of activities for before, during, and after reading. The activities engage students in a variety of reading strategies, including predicting, visualizing, summarizing, questioning, connecting, and more! It includes a variety of graphic organizers as well. This resource helps students analyze plot, setting, characters, theme, and other story elements as they read their books.
This set also includes 17 writing prompts. The writing prompts are provided in two ways - on a worksheet and on a page that can be displayed. Writing prompts engage students in Reader Response, as well as text analysis.
6 culminating activities are included as well. These activities offer multiple ways for students to demonstrate their learning, such as designing a movie poster, writing a character journal, and creating a newspaper. The culminating projects are fun and offer opportunities for students to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity.
These materials can be used for independent reading, small group reading, or whole class novel study.
All activities in this packet are engaging for students and encourage higher level thinking and reading strategies. You can pick and choose which activities to use with each book, and they can be used over and over again with different books. This is a resource you will definitely put to great use!
